Before and After

Remember back in the day, I posted about painting our cabinets? Well, i eventually finished them, and after our stove and microwave came on Saturday (and now thanks to Best Buy we have a huge chunk of counter top missing, but that is another story, lol) it looks like a totally different kitchen!

This is before (and right after the wedding, note the pink flowers on the stove). Also note, that I do not miss that stove. The handle fell off every time you opened it, and i detested it.

And here it is today! (I love it, it's clean steel i think, it doesn't show fingerprints!)

Note the light is on inside, and it is SO clean. i refused to clean the old one because i hated it so much!

If you can also remember, or if you are new, we did some more work on our living room--mainly on the fireplace. It wasn't hideous (well, the mantle was--it looked like a piece of driftwood that someone just set there) but it took up too much room, and wasn't really our style.

Here is was before we touched it:

After we removed all the bricks.......

and now......(please note, matt damon is on my tv....)
I loooove the tile, but not so sure about the trim around the fp. I hate the speakers there, but i wasn't given a choice on that part, lol. BUT--what a difference it makes to the whole room. It's feels more warm and homey. (Let me add this to say that we DO NOT USE our fireplace, nor will we ever which is why we decided to put the TV there.)

So, i will leave you with one more thing today. I bought some water from target, and this is what I found inside.....
A PIPER! :)

wow, what an incredible difference the white cabinets and stainless steel appliances make - the kitchen is fantastic. and the fireplace is awesome, too. i honestly didn't even notice the speaks in the pic until you pointed them out.

You might want to do a little research on things regarding where your tv is hanging. I think that if you use your fireplace it is a bad idea to hang your tv over it. The heat can ruin the screen on the tv and your warranty may be voided if you hang your tv over the fireplace due to the excessive heat.

Your stove and FP look awesome! Isn't the finished product worth all the demo hell?
Why do kitties love to get in plastic and boxes/ It cracks me up.

Your pictures look great. As for kitties in trees, I think they get over it in a few days. Our cat went crazy for a day or two but now she doesn't touch it. We obviously stopped her everytime she felt the need to rip down ornaments though.

The kitchen change is spectacular! Even without the new stove, which is awesome, btw, the white cabinets make the room look so much sleeker and up-to-date. The fireplace looks really good too. Congrats on finishing up your projects!

Sorry if I missed the comment about the fact that you don't use your fireplace. I just thought I would pass that information on because that would really suck to lose your warranty over something like that. I do love how everything looks though. I enjoy your blog, but I am a new reader so I am slowly making my way through it.

Wow, fantastic job on the fireplace! That's the one thing I did not get when we bought our home, so now we're having a wood stove installed. I think your trim looks lovely.
