Goodbye 1st Trimester!

Hello 2nd! Yes! Finally! I made it and survived. I feel like I should buy T-shirts and celebrate. Ok, not that far but you get the excitement.

I have been super busy with the end of this semester wrapping up (and Amy playing catch-up on a whole semester of work that I put off because of the whole wanting to puke 24/7 thing!) I have one more paper to do, and a test next Tuesday. Then, home free (and time to catch up on work too!)

This past weekend was our 1st Anniversary. I wrote a post about it and I forgot to post it. (Baby brain has begun...) It was good to get out of the house and into the real world for a bit and eat (and boy did we!) I haven't been the nicest person to live with lately and he has been so understanding. I am getting all nostalgic now, so i will stop!

Time really is flying by fast. I go back to the doc in 12 days and we schedule the BIG ultrasound then. I can't wait. Plus, more than anything I can't wait to see our little nugget again and see how he/she has grown. The last time I saw him/her (see this whole gender thing needs to be figured out!) it was like looking at a little blob (a cute one though!) Plus, we get to see how our nugget is developing and if everything is going ok. I got so nervous before the last ultrasound, and I know I will be nervous for this one! I can't wait!

finally broke down and bought maternity pants. O.M.G! They are amazingly comfortable and I am sitting her feeling like I am wearing sweatpants. I love you maternity pants! I really do! Plus, it's pretty efficient when you have to pee and there are no zippers or buttons to slow you down! :)

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck.

By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active! From babycenter!

Baby sure is growing!
