2008 started with a bang....

of sorts. Blakey and I along with another couple went out to Remy's for good food, and good wine with some good friends. I had the yummiest food (crab cakes, hummus, lamb shank, and chocolate torte) Their feta mousse is to die for! Anyway, we had the kinda New Years that we were looking for this year!

I got some bad news the next morning though. My little brother was in a car accident. He had suffered head trauma, and they think he had a seizure. This is where we got worried. He started having seizures right around the time he entered high school. No one in our family has had anything like this so it was out of the ordinary and scary. In 2001, he had brain surgery to remove a teeny portion that was causing the seizures. He has one small one afterwards but none since.

He was working on Monday evening, delivering pizzas. We don't know the details of what happened and the police are investigating but he is doing well. He still is kinda out of it, and very banged and bruised but the important part is that he is okay.

While this is a very unfortuate thing that took place, I am beyond thankful he is okay! While i was leaving the hospital tonight, i had my own little accident. While it was just a little fender bender that caused no fenders to actually be harmed, it scared the crap out of me. These things happen in an instance, and so fast. Life is precious, and so are those in our lives!

I wanted to start out the new year on a positive note. My family and friends are so important to me, and I wanted to express my gratitude for having them in my life-safe, happy and healthy!

Here is to a safe, happy, and healthy 2008! (oh and wear your stinking seat belt! Please!)

I'm glad he's okay! I said a little prayer. You're off to a good start this year. It's just unfortunate that it takes something happening to make us realize how precious those around us are. I would know.

Yikes! Sorry to hear about the accident[s] and I hope your bro is okay. And I'm glad you are okay, too.

Wow! That is a lot to take in. Past brain surgery, this accident. It is great news that he is okay and doing well. God bless you and yours :).
